Elevating Joy!

Well, I guess its about time to start blogging again!

Today we met with a caregiver who will come once a week to sit with mom. She was so sweet and sincere. Her mother is far away and has Alzheimer's. In some small way, maybe her sitting with mom will bless and minister to her.

I received a cool business card from the alzheimers alliance. It is a simple card stating "Please Be Patient". It goes on to explain that the person with me has Alzheimer's disease and may require a few extra moments. It's a thank you for understanding card. I am going to try and order them. It would be such a big help!

The New Year!

We have a new doctor here in Bixby, Dr. Andrew Mills. He seems wonderful. We had blood drawn on Tuesday and by Thursday we had detailed results of the tests, as well as prescriptions called in to the pharmacy.

We are on a quest for NEW hearing aids for dad. Dr. Mills has referred us to a Ear, Nose & Throat specialist. So hopefully that will be coming soon.

Does anyone know anything about Risperdal being used to calm anxiety with alzheimers and causing shaking? We are trying to replace the Risperdal with Benadryl for some nights. With Benadryl mom is much more alert and verbal than the other. Interesting. Its a juggling act every day.

We are so excited about Lifechurch coming to Bixby! It opens next week for a soft open. Dad is going to be a greeter.

Can I just say that Dr. Tony Hicks and Bodyworks Chiropractic in Bixby is AWESOME! The new fitness center is amazing as well. I'm all ready back running and loving it. We got dad a membership as well, and it will be tricky figuring out how to get him up there but it is open 24/7, so we will manage!
